GEORGIA APPEAL
The international community witnessed a short and brutal conflict between Russia and Georgia, erupting on August 8. Hundreds of people lost lives in the conflicts, and tens of thousands fled their homes to seek refuge in areas not affected by military operations.
Minorities of Europe has strong ties with the South Caucasian Republic of Georgia. MoE sent young people on youth exchanges, seminars and training events in Georgia numerous times. Moreover, MoE co-ordinates a large scale project focused on young peoples’ contribution to peace-building in the region. You can find some photos from these events, involving Georgian and Russian youth as well as young people from other European countries on this page.
We feel it is our duty to support people in need during this difficult time.
Our member organisation from Tbilisi, Georgia, has launched the following appeal to support the conflict victims. MoE will act as a UK intermediary in this appeal and transfer all the collected funds to Georgia.
